November 2005:
Tune in to KTIS FM, 98.5
this month! This radio station will air a program featuring Kids Against Hunger
Monday through Friday, November 21-25 at 4:50 p.m. The program will also air on
KTIS AM, 900 at 7:24 a.m. and 5:52 p.m. on those same days.
We have some
great news: we have just set up our 22nd satellite in Honolulu,
Hawaii! Details will follow.
As if that's not exciting enough, we
are currently in the process of getting 7 other satellites started. They will be
located in North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, Minnesota, Oklahoma, and
Colorado.
September 2005:
We are still very much involved in the relief efforts for the hurricane Katrina victims. 1 million meals so far have been sent to the area affected by Hurricane Katrina , and we have committed to sending more meals for the next three months. KSTP featured a short article on their web site about our relief efforts. Click here to read it.
We have also just gotten the good news that the food shipment to Liberia on June 26th, has finally reached its destination. Patty Anglin with "Acres of Hope" is distributing it among the children in her orphanage, and we're hoping to have some photos to share with you soon.
Turn up your radio! We have recently been included in numerous TV and radio shows, and we are developing a nationwide radio spot right now. One of these broadcasts was the City Sites program with Larry Kutzler on KTIS. Larry had us on the show for a week, for fifteen minutes a day, talking about Kids Against Hunger. This program will air in November on KTIS (out of Minneapolis and the #2 station in the metro area). KTIS is at 98.5 FM, or on the web at www.ktis.fm. Pastor Michael Bush has informed us that our shipment got to Hammond, VA safely. He picked the food up at the airport and distributed it quickly.

"So far, we have sent about 700,000 meals to Shreveport
(Louisiana) and Houston (Texas). They are being distributed all throughout
Louisiana and the immediate area of Houston. Today, I am running another 36
boxes to the Mankato (Minnesota) airport - that’s 7,776 meals. Those meals are
going to be in Hammond (Louisiana) tonight by 6 pm. Hammond is right on the
other side of Lake Ponchatrain, the lake that flooded New Orleans, and this will
be the first plane into Hammond. The pastor of the church is begging us for food
because he just ran out.
Help us, keep making food, and keep sending
donations. We are committing at least a million meals a month for the next three
months, but we need donations, so we can make the food. Help us out; just 23
cents per serving can give a person a super, hot nutritious meal. God is
good."

We have been working with organizations such as The Red Cross and FEMA all week to get food shipped to the area affected by the hurricane Katrina. We have already sent several pallets and are adding more every day. We so appreciate all the calls we have gotten from people trying to help! We'll be sending out meals to victims of the hurricane as fast as the funds come in. The best way to support our operation right now is by making a financial contribution. It's easy - just click on one of the donation-buttons on our web site or mail a check to: Kids Against Hunger, 5401 Boone Avenue North, New Hope, MN 55428. With a cost of just 23 cents per meal your contribution makes a huge difference.

2,160 meals to Guatemala (through St. Paul Parish in Minnesota)

August 2005:
We’ve got exciting news: we went to the Assemblies of God Convention in Denver the first week of August.
Richard Proudfit and Tim Stromer set up and managed a booth for four days - presenting the Kids Against Hunger food relief program to a larger audience. The presentation included points such as fundraising to feed children worldwide, how to package the food, and distribution. Richard particularly stressed the importance of setting up satellites. We had the chance to cook the food and people loved it. We were even included in the Assemblies of God newspaper by one of the attendees that said we were her favorite booth!
The convention was a great success! We presented our program to over 300 people and talked to an additional 200 people at their own booths.
Back at the New Hope office, we are now following up with people interested in setting up a satellite. We are hopeful that we will be able to welcome some new members to our Kids Against Hunger family soon.
