July 2008:
Stone Arch Books: Proceeds from book sales donated to Kids Against Hunger
Stone Arch Books believes that some of the most powerful heroes are
everyday heroes, so the publishing company has developed a new set of
books called “We Are Heroes.” Each of the six new books
tells the fictional story of a middle-school-aged everyday hero who
makes a big difference in his or her community.
James P. Coughlan, co-owner of Capstone Publishers, the parent company
of Stone Arch Books, believes that contributing to society should be a
basic part of everyone’s life. Several of Coughlan’s own
children are involved in volunteer work, including work for the
organization Kids AgainstHunger™,so Coughlan asked Stone Arch Books to develop books that featured regular kids getting involved in their communities.
To further the efforts of the volunteer organization, Stone Arch Books
is happy to announce that all proceeds from the sale of the book "Kids Against Hunger", by local author Jon Mikkelsen, will go directly to Kids AgainstHunger™.
"Kids Against Hunger (Middle School Heroes)" can be preordered through Amazon.com at this link or can be purchased directly from Stone Arch Books.

expressing their support following our segment on 5 Eyewitness News'

April 2008:
DON’T
MISS 5 Eyewitness News - One The Road with Jason Davis
on Sunday, May 11th
at 10:35 p.m. (central time)
For the first time ever on television in Minnesota, volunteers
will see the truly amazing results of their efforts with Kids Against Hunger.
Emmy Award winning reporter Jason Davis from KSTP-TV, the ABC affiliate in
Minneapolis, recently accompanied founder,
Richard Proudfit and Tim Stromer, Director of our Mankato division, on a trip to Haiti.
At a Kids Against Hunger feeding site, they were able to document and film not
only the children in such desperate need but also the children fortunate enough
to be receiving the Kids Against Hunger meals.
This program is an opportunity for all those who have supported Kids Against Hunger with their “time, talent and
treasures” to actually see the recipients of their generosity. Please tell
everyone you know to tune in and learn more about KAH and the life saving work
we do. If you cannot view the program in your area, you can watch it online at
www.kstp.com/otr beginning May 12.

During the months of
March and April, Starfish Television Network, a "network that
highlights nonprofit organizations and promotes charitable causes
worldwide", will air a 14 minute feature about Kids Against Hunger. A list of show times can be found here. To watch the video online, please click here.
This is the same movie we show to volunteers when they first come to
the New Hope office to package meals, and it is a good overview for
those of you who are new to Kids Against Hunger and want to learn more
about the organization.
February 2008:
Since changing the
legal name of our organization from Feeding Children International to
Kids Against Hunger in June of 2007, we have needed a new sign for
our headquarters. As it often happens, that project kept getting
postponed until we received a most generous offer from Al Stender of Capital Signs
in Brooklyn Center, MN. Al graciously offered to donate the new sign
and now anyone driving by can see that we are officially Kids Against
Hunger. We are extremely grateful to Al for his generosity in
helping us publicize our organization.

Bowl Against Hunger (From KEYC Television's web site)
Published Date: 02-29-2008 06:59 PM CT
"Tonight,
Kids Against Hunger will kick off a fundraising campaign with their
first annual Bowlathon. Victory Bowl in Mankato will host the
fundraiser. Teams of four or six can sign up for 3 different time
slots, every Friday throughout the month of March. And organizers are
excited for the upcoming event. Tim Stromer says, "Each Bowler is asked
to raise 125 bucks, or more. If they can raise more, that's great. They
can get sponsors, or they can get 10 friends to give them 13 bucks.
There's a lot of ways you can do that. The idea of the fundraiser is to
try to feed as many kids as we can. Every dollar we raise feeds another
4 kids." Slots are still available. If you're interested in
participating in the fundraiser, you can stop in at Victory Bowl to
sign up."
